This years Honky Tonkin on the River is a Handi-Riders benefit. Among some of the areas finest performers we are featuring North State's own "Adrian" This is Adrian's second year playing for this event. Last year she had just finished her debute album produced by Tom Russell. This year she is riding in with a saddle bag of new songs that she has been writing for her upcoming CD. Catch up with the 2010 Telluride Jazz Festival with a video and musical report from Jazz X-Press after their August showcase in Colorado. A special highlight of the evening includes a premiere performance from bass player and student Katlyn Hanson of her new original composition.
Principal wind players from NSS are featured in this exceptionally colorful program. The solid genius of Beethoven is balanced by two colorful European works from 20th century masters.
Teaming up for an evening of acoustic blues, master musicians Ruthie Foster and Eric Bibb are at the top of their field. This Thanks for the Joy tour features positive messages from Ruthie's powerhouse vocals and Eric's finger pickin' and mellow voice, providing us a perfect night of the blues. Traveling from the mountain village of Pengosekan, Bali, Gamelan Cudamani play music and perform dances that are at the root of their traditional culture.
